Yarn Store Operative
Overview
To work as part of a team providing an efficient service within yarn production with the goal of maximising operating efficiencies while maintaining the highest standards of yarn quality.
- Offloading pallet deliveries and placing them in our racking aisles in the yarn store
- Completing all necessary paperwork
- Ensuring the Warping & Weaving departments have enough yarn for each job. Using the job sheet information to collect the yarn from its location in the aisles and book it in through the SAP computerised system
- Returning residue stock into correct locations.
- Ensuring there is enough white yarn for Dyehouse.
- Work efficiently and effectively to meet production targets.
- Maintain a safe working environment through the strict adherence to company health and safety rules and procedures. Actively participate in promoting excellent health and safety in the workplace
- Effectively communicate any quality concerns and issues to the supervisor.
- Ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained
- Provide absence cover for yarn store operatives when necessary.
- Provide training for trainees and less experienced members of the team when you are fully trained and competent.
- Any other duties as and when reasonably requested by the management team
- Attention to detail
- Comfortable with manual handling adhering to Health & Safety requirements.
- Work under own initiative and as part of a team.
- Excellent attendance and timekeeping.
- Full capacity to recognise and distinguish between different colours.
- Computer literate – will receive addition training on SAP system and scanners
- Ride on lifter (or FLT) experience preferred but not essential as training will be given
- Physically fit
