Production Support & Recycling Operative
Overview
To support the efficient operation of the Weaving and Warping Departments by providing recycling, waste management, housekeeping and production support activities. The role plays an important part in ensuring production areas remain organised, safe and operating effectively, enabling Weavers, Tuners and other production teams to focus on the manufacture of quality cloth and the efficient running of machinery.
Working as part of the wider manufacturing team, the role helps maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and workplace safety, contributing to overall operational performance and continuous production flow.
Production Support
- Support the efficient running of Cloth Production through proactive housekeeping and workplace organisation.
- Assist production teams by ensuring materials, waste streams and recycling processes are managed effectively.
- Help maintain a safe, organised and efficient manufacturing environment that supports uninterrupted production.
- Work closely with Weavers, Tuners and Supervisors to identify and address housekeeping and recycling requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workplace organisation and operational efficiency.
Recycling & Waste Management
- Collect and remove full cardboard, plastic, cone and selvedge containers from production areas.
- Replace full containers with empty tubs, boxes and pallets as required.
- Stack, move and remove empty pallets.
- Palletise and prepare cardboard and other recyclable materials for collection or processing.
- Manage recycling streams in accordance with site procedures.
- Process recyclable materials through baling and waste management systems where required.
- Collect and remove empty cones.
- Transport part-used cones to designated rewinding or storage locations.
- Maintain recycling stations and waste collection points to a high standard.
Housekeeping & Cleaning
- Carry out loom cleaning prior to gear-up activities.
- Undertake high-level vacuuming and dust removal activities.
- Clean beam storage areas within both weaving and warping departments.
- Maintain housekeeping standards within shared production areas, walkways, access routes and communal spaces.
- Ensure production support areas remain clean, organised and free from unnecessary obstructions.
- Assist with deep-cleaning activities as required.
- Support the maintenance of high workplace standards across the manufacturing facility.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Report hazards, defects and housekeeping concerns promptly.
- Ensure waste and recyclable materials are handled safely and appropriately.
- Support a culture of safe working practices throughout the department.
- Contribute to maintaining quality standards by ensuring production environments are clean and well organised.
