Multi Skilled Finishing Operative
Overview
The purpose of this role is to support the efficient processing of fabric within the Finishing Department by operating various machinery, in both wet and dry finishing, ensuring pieces are transferred and prepared correctly for subsequent stages. The role contributes to maintaining high product quality, accurate production flow, and timely delivery of customer orders through effective machine operation, housekeeping, data entry, and teamwork. By following safe working practices, supporting continuous improvement, and sharing knowledge with colleagues, the role helps ensure that production targets are met while upholding safety, quality, and operational standards.
Routine Maintenance
• Operate the various finishing machinery
• Move pieces of fabric between machines within the department
• Ensure all pieces are sent to the next department in the correct format
• Follow the production plan to ensure orders are delivered as required
• Assist with the entry of pieces onto the computer system
• Work with the rest of the team to ensure the efficient flow of production with the department
• Produce high quality fabric which is processed in line with quality specifications
• Report any quality issues to the finishing supervisor
• Maintain high levels of housekeeping through regular cleaning of the area and machinery
• Work in a safe manner observing all requirements of risk assessments and safe systems of work, including the wearing of PPE
• Safely handle chemicals in line with risk assessments
• Conduct basic machine maintenance tasks such as lubrication and condition monitoring.
• Train other members of staff to ensure the sharing of best practice
• To carry out any other reasonable general duties requested by your supervisor/manager
• Some flexibility with hours in busy/ holiday periods
