Electrical Maintenance Engineer
Overview
Reporting directly to the Engineering Lead, the Electrical Maintenance Engineer is expected to maintain all manufacturing plant equipment and facilities to ensure optimal working conditions. They will continuously improve reliability by increasing the Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and reducing the Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), and will employ best practices in maintenance strategies, such as predictive and preventative maintenance, to maximise equipment efficiency.
Routine Maintenance
- Conduct scheduled electrical inspections and preventative maintenance measures to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on a wide range of plant and equipment, ensuring smooth operations and minimising down time.
- Assist in developing and adhering to planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and execute work orders as needed.
- Ensure all work complies with industry regulations and safety standards.
Repairs and Troubleshooting
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions in a timely manner.
- Perform necessary upgrades, modifications, and replacements to improve system efficiency.
- Provide detailed reports on equipment faults, breakdown root causes, and necessary corrective actions to the Head of Engineering.
Operational Support:
- Plan and prioritise workload in alignment with production needs to optimise working time and support production efficiency.
- Assist visiting specialist engineers when necessary, providing knowledge and support.
- Identify spare part requirements and maintain logs for stock control.
Teamwork and Leadership:
- Assist in the installation, repositioning, and movement of machines and equipment.
- Support and lead a team, either directly or indirectly, ensuring work is conducted safely and efficiently.
- Actively report incidents, accidents, or near misses in line with the company’s Health & Safety policies.
- 18th Edition Certification or equivalent
- Qualified apprentice-trained electrician (City & Guilds)
- Extensive experience as a qualified maintenance / service engineer operating in an industrial environment (Preferably in the manufacturing sector).
- Electrical fault finding to component level
- Comprehensive knowledge of Health & Safety procedures (IOSH/NEBOSH certification preferred) including risk assessment & Operational Understanding
- A commitment to maintaining safety standards and compliance with industry regulations.
- Proficiency in developing, executing, and maintaining planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and repair electrical systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload efficiently
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Experience in leading teams, either directly or indirectly
- Electrical Installation Maintenance: the post holder will undertake other duties as may be required to achieve the Company’s objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post
- This role will require a minimum of 5 years’ continuous employment history (references will be required).
- Successful completion of an Enhanced DBS check will be required.
