Driver & Dispatch Operative
Overview
To support operations across three busy dispatch areas, undertaking a wide range of warehouse duties. This is a multi skilled role including dispatch, picking, cutting, stock handling and driving company vehicles as required.
Warehouse & Dispatch Operations
- Picking, cutting, packing, and preparing customer orders for dispatch
- Processing inbound and outbound stock across all dispatch areas
- Loading and unloading deliveries and internal stock movement
- Maintaining accurate stock counts and reporting discrepancies
- Organising packaging and storage to agreed standards
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and well‑organised working environment
Driving & Transport
- Completing deliveries and collections using company vehicles (van and 7.5t wagon)
- Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting defects
- Ensuring adherence to all transport legislation and company procedures
Equipment & Safety
- Operating warehouse equipment including FLT (where trained)
- Carrying out daily checks on warehouse machinery and equipment
- Complying with all Health & Safety policies and procedures at all times
Flexibility & Team Support
- Moving between warehouses, dispatch areas, and operational tasks as required
- Supporting colleagues during peak periods, absences, or changing priorities
- Carrying out all reasonable additional duties as requested by management
Essential
- Full UK driving licence with C1 entitlement, plus valid CPC and Tachograph card
- Willingness to learn and work across all warehouse and dispatch activities, not just driving
- Physically able to carry out warehouse duties including picking, cutting, loading, and manual handling
- Flexible and adaptable to support different warehouses, departments, and shifts as required
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Able to follow processes accurately, including working from pick sheets
- Full 5‑year employment history required for pre‑employment checks
- DBS check required (bonded warehouse environment)
Desirable
- Previous experience in a warehouse, dispatch, logistics, or multi‑skilled operative role
- FLT licence or experience (Counterbalance / Flexi)
- Experience using SAP or similar systems (training provided)
