Blending Operative
Overview
To work as part of the Dyehouse and Blending team to support efficient production processes while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and housekeeping. The role contributes to minimising downtime, supporting product quality, and ensuring smooth operational flow.
The role also supports the organisation’s approach to multi-skilling, with an expectation that the postholder will develop skills across different areas over time.
- Support the efficient running of blending operations, minimising downtime during job changes through effective teamwork
- Operate machinery in line with manufacturer instructions, ensuring optimal speed, efficiency, and safety
- Carry out cleaning of equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Assist in maintaining high product quality standards, minimising waste and second-quality output
- Manage recycled waste across site, including the handling and dispatch of bales
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety procedures, including lock-out procedures during maintenance or cleaning activities
- Ensure a high standard of housekeeping is maintained at all times, including the safe management of spills and work areas
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of blend recipes and shade approval processes
- Support stock control and warehouse operations, ensuring materials are accurately stored, identified, and available
- Accurately record stock movements, material usage, goods receipts, and production transactions using SAP systems
- Good attention to detail
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Reliable with excellent timekeeping
- Basic IT/computer literacy
- Ability to recognise and distinguish between colours (essential)
- FLT licence (desirable but not essential)
