Production Planner
Overview
To oversee the production planning of all woven fabrics to achieve production levels using efficiency and capacity targets set with the Cloth Production Manager. OTIF delivery is essential to the long term viability of our company. This role takes responsibility for quoting achievable lead times, planning through all stages of production (including outwork) monitoring progress of such and communicating with the sales department to ensure delivery dates are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage production schedules for cloth manufacturing using SAP and related systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet OTIF (On Time In Full) targets and proactively flag risks to the production plan.
- Coordinate daily planning activities with Production Managers, Purchasing Manager, and Progress Chaser.
- Raise and issue work orders and associated production documentation.
- Create forward-looking production plans (e.g., 4–12 weeks) and communicate potential bottlenecks to stakeholders.
- Maintain and update lead times, ensuring all relevant teams are informed.
- Leverage demand forecasting data to optimize cloth production planning.
- Monitor production progress, material availability, and identify shortages or constraints.
- Track and report on operational KPIs.
- Conduct daily analysis of forecast changes, material fluctuations, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Prioritize urgent customer requests and integrate them into the production schedule where feasible.
- Investigate and communicate late deliveries, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure clear communication of production plans across departments.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the planning function.
- Perform general administrative tasks related to production planning.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably assigned by a Director.
Essential:
- Proven experience in production planning within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive mindset.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including use of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to persevere through challenges and develop new systems or processes to improve efficiency.
- Solid understanding of planning principles and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Desirable:
- Experience with planning and scheduling software tools.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
