Dakota Hotels has carefully cultivated its position as one of Britain’s most distinctive luxury boutique hotel collections. Each destination offers guests an immersive experience where sophisticated design, impeccable service and atmospheric interiors converge to create unforgettable stays.

The opening of Dakota Hotel Newcastle offered a new opportunity to build on their signature style—and in Abraham Moon & Sons, they found a partner whose 185-year heritage in British textile manufacturing could help bring that vision to life.

Our collaboration fused Dakota’s exacting standards with Moon’s long-standing expertise in producing premium wool fabrics for interiors—designed to combine beauty, quality and performance.

Each of our original designs begins its journey at our vertical woollen mill in Guiseley, West Yorkshire. Operating on the same site since the 19th century, every stage of production—from dyeing and blending to weaving and finishing—takes place under one roof. This rare vertical process ensures full control over quality, consistency and sustainability.

Our in-house designers work closely with production teams to deliver textiles that balance refined aesthetics with lasting performance; an ideal match for the demands of luxury hotel interiors.

By sourcing our designs, we were able to supply Dakota with fabrics that fused luxury with practicality:

• Premium wool – Sourced from trusted suppliers for natural resilience, texture, and beauty.

• Cohesive Colour Palettes – Select colours to complement Dakota’s signature design scheme.

• Specialist finishing – Designed to maximise wool’s resilience and maintain its visual quality over time.

Specifying from one source was not only more cost effective, but promoting a locally based company was important to Dakota moving forward and has the advantage of ensuring quick replacement materials as and when required by Dakota hotels across the estate.”

To bring the design vision to life, Elite Contract Furniture transformed our fabrics into finished pieces—ready for installation throughout the hotel.
