Quality – Final inspection
Overview
The Final Inspector is responsible for conducting comprehensive visual and physical inspections of woven fabric to ensure all products meet established quality standards before shipment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product integrity, minimizing defects, and supporting continuous improvement in the manufacturing process. This position also offers comprehensive training across all quality inspection areas, providing opportunities for professional growth.
- Final Quality Inspection: Examine woven fabrics for defects, inconsistencies, and quality issues such as: – Color variations – Weaving faults (missed picks, broken picks, uneven tensions) – Shrinkage or dimensional irregularities – Contaminants or foreign materials – Measure fabric dimensions (length, width, weight, GLM) and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Measurement & Specification Verification: Confirm that fabric width, weight, construction, shade, finish, and other required characteristics meet customer and internal specifications.
- Documentation & Reporting: Record all findings accurately using inspection forms, quality checklists, or digital systems (SAP). Accurately document nonconformance issues.
- Communication with Production & Quality Teams: Report recurring issues or major quality concerns immediately to the shift supervisor, and QA lead to support root-cause analysis and process improvements.
- Sample Collection: Cut fabric samples for labs, customer review, or shade continuity records as needed.
- Equipment Use & Maintenance: Operate inspection machines, lighting systems, and measurement tools safely and effectively. Report equipment malfunctions promptly.
- Compliance & Standards: Follow all quality procedures, standard operating procedures, safety regulations, and company policies. Ensure final inspection processes comply with customer requirements and internal Specifications.
- Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback to help improve inspection processes, documentation accuracy, and upstream fabric quality.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies during inspections.
- Experience in textile inspection, preferably woven fabrics preferred.
- Strong visual acuity and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with fabric defect terminology and textile inspection systems preferred.
- Ability to use measuring tools (tape measure, pick glass, etc.).
- Basic computer or tablet skills for data entry into our internal system (SAP).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and manually manipulate fabric rolls.
- Good communication skills for reporting defects and collaborating with teams.
