Finishing Manager
Overview
To take full responsibility for the quality, efficiency and output of all finishing operations. To continuously optimise and develop working practices to ensure operational targets are met in line with company demand and in collaboration with the planning manager. Through this approach you will drive industry standard best practice and set standards to follow “right first time” production culture. You will hold overall responsibility for ensuring the highest standards of Health & Safety are maintained across the departments.
- Produce and Communicate clear, data driven performance reporting, including monthly operational overviews and SMART KPI’s, ensuring all teams understand weekly targets, values and performance expectations
- Lead all finishing operations to deliver high-quality, on time output, working collaboratively with Design, Planning, Quality, Sales and customer service to ensure customer requirements are consistently met
- Effectively manage and develop your staff, to build a high-performing, engaged team through proactive absence management in line with company policies, identifying skills gaps and implementing targeted training and development plans. Work collaboratively with HR to establish clear progression routes and support succession planning in line with business strategies. Encourage a positive and inclusive working environment through regular coaching, mentoring and recognition.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by driving Lean manufacturing initiatives, embedding route cause analysis, and actively involving teams in process optimisation
- Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Regulatory requirements by maintaining robust risk assessments, SOP adherence, COSHH controls, high housekeeping standards, and sustainability initiatives
- Work closely with your team and maintenance department to implement preventative maintenance schedules and evaluate and research new technologies to minimise downtime, enhance productivity and save money
- Be proactive to identify, manage and escalate operational risks, implementing contingency plans and communicating key issues to SLT to safeguard business continuity and strategy
- Manage departmental budgets using accurate forecasting, cost control and ROI analysis, collaborating with Operations Director.
