Financial Controller
Purpose
As Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of our manufacturing business, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with our commercial objectives. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will partner with the finance function and the wider business to ensure accurate, timely financial information and a strong control environment.

Financial Leadership:
- Prepare and deliver timely, accurate monthly management accounts and statutory accounts in compliance with relevant accounting standards and legislation.
- Oversee and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with best practices and regulations.
- Drive the annual financial audit process and liaise with external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements, including VAT, Corporation Tax, PAYE/NI, and other taxes, meeting all deadlines.
Systems & Process Enhancement:
- Support the transition from the Mertex ERP system to SAP, ensuring data integrity and enhancing reporting capabilities.
- Review, refine, and document financial processes, ensuring they meet business needs while promoting efficiency and accuracy.
Working Capital & Performance Management:
- Manage working capital with a focus on stock, annual stock take, trade debtors, and cash flow.
- Set and monitor key performance targets for the Finance Department to drive continuous improvement.
Collaboration:
- Partner with the business, requiring hungry, humble, and smart character traits with the ability to communicate finance to non-finance colleagues.
- Work closely with other departments to ensure the Finance function meets the evolving needs of the business.
Essential Attributes:
- Qualified Accountant: CIMA, ACA, ACCA, or similar, with post-qualification experience in manufacturing.
- Analytical Expertise: Strong ability to understand and interpret complex manufacturing data.
- Hands-On Approach: Open, honest, and willing to engage in the detail to solve problems.
- Positive Mindset: A proactive, solutions-focused individual who values systems and processes.
- Decision-Making: Proven ability to make and implement tough decisions.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Extensive experience in financial management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing team.
- Solid understanding of ERP systems and process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, fostering collaboration across departments.
Good to Have:
- Experience with SAP Business One or similar systems.
- Interest in textiles or manufacturing industries.
