Apprentice Textile Manufacturing Operative
Overview
As an Apprentice Operative, you will gain practical experience while completing a structured Level 2 Textile Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship programme. You’ll work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, contributing to the production of textile materials including cotton, wool, and other yarns used in clothing, interiors, and industrial products.
The Apprentice will also assist in creating and updating product specifications, maintaining accurate test records for full traceability, ensuring product compliance, and supporting ongoing sustainability initiatives within the department.
- Receive and organise deliveries and placing them in our racking aisles in the yarn store
- Complete all necessary paperwork accurately
- Ensuring the Warping & Weaving departments have the correct yarn using the job sheet information and SAP system
- Returning residue stock into correct locations.
- Work efficiently to meet production targets.
- Maintain a safe working environment by following health and safety procedures.
- Effectively communicate any quality concerns and issues to the supervisor.
- Keep the workspace clean and organised.
- Provide cover for yarn store operatives when necessary.
- Train new team members once fully competent.
- Perform other duties as reasonably requested by the management team.
- Attention to detail
- Basic maths (level 2)
- Comfortable with manual handling and Health & Safety compliance.
- Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
- Excellent attendance and timekeeping.
- Full capacity to recognise and distinguish between different colours.
- Computer literate – will receive additional training on SAP system and scanners
- Ride on lifter (or FLT) experience preferred but not essential as training will be given
- Physically fit
As part of your Level 2 Textile Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship, you will learn to:
- Prepare for and carry out textile manufacturing operations.
- Conduct quality assurance and prepare materials for subsequent stages.
- Maintain equipment and workplace cleanliness.
- Complete work records accurately.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop understanding of key processes such as blending, spinning, weaving, dyeing, and finishing.
