Abraham Moon & Sons is looking for an experienced and hard-working Fettler to join its yarn production team at its Mill in Guiseley, Leeds. 

Working alongside the Yarn Production Manager, the successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide an efficient service within the Yarn Production department with the purpose of maximising operating efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • To ensure that card downtime is kept to a minimum through the efficient management of job changes, by working with the team to reduce downtime.

 

  • Ensure the cleaning of the cards is done in an efficient and safe practice, and that care is taken not to damage card wire.

 

  • To be multi-skilled and flexible within the department, learning carding, spinning and winding.

 

  • To ensure that machines are operated at their optimum speed and efficiency.

 

  • To assist the company in the high quality of spun yarns, by ensuring that the production of second quality goods is kept to a minimum.

 

  • To assist in the maintenance of a safe working environment through the strict adherence to company health and safety rules and procedures.

 

  • Ensuring that all maintenance, repair and lubrication are carried out when the cards are at a standstill and locked out.

 

  • Ensuring that machines are only operated in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.

 

  • Ensuring that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained, with particular emphasis and notice taken of oil grease and lubricant spillages.

Attributes & Experience Required

 

  • Attention to detail.

 

  • Good literacy/numeracy skills.

 

  • Excellent timekeeping skills.

 

  • Full capacity to recognise and distinguish between different colours.

 

  • An understanding of continuous improvement within a production environment.
