Dye House Operative (Variable shifts - 2 roles available)

Abraham Moon & Sons is looking for a number of Dye House Operatives to join our existing team, providing an efficient service within the Dye House with the purpose of maximising operating efficiencies. The ideal candidate should be flexible and adaptable, and capable of working interdependently.

Shifts available will be variable, between 2pm - 10pm and 6:30am - 2:30pm. 

Key Responsibilities

  • To work in a fast paced/quality driven environment ensuring that dye-house down time is kept to a minimum through the efficient management of job changes, by working with the team.

 

  • To be multi-skilled and flexible within the department learning to operate loose stock, package dye and piece dye machinery following SOP, RA and SSOW.

 

  • To ensure that machines are operated at their optimum speed and efficiency.

 

  • Ensure the cleaning of equipment is done in an efficient and safe practice.

 

  • Predominantly manual work consisting of loading and unloading fibre, fabric, and package cones into and out of the machines.

 

  • Time management is crucial in all procedures so the ability to act under pressure using patience where appropriate is needed.

 

  • To assist the company in the high quality of products, by ensuring that the production of second quality goods is kept to a minimum.

 

  • To assist in the maintenance of a safe working environment through the strict adherence to company health and safety rules and procedures.

 

  • Ensuring that all maintenance, repair, and lubrication is carried out when equipment are at a standstill and locked out.

 

  • Ensuring that machines are only operated in line with the manufacturer’s instructions.

 

  • Ensuring that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained, with particular emphasis and notice taken of oil grease and lubricant spillages.

Attributes and Experience:

  • Excellent organisation skills and a good communicator.

 

  • Good colour vision is required.

 

  • The use and handling of some hazardous chemicals.

 

  • Colour weighing skills an advantage but will be taught to the right applicant.

 

  • Understanding of SOP, KPI’s, as well as be health and safety driven throughout the departments to all Safety Policies and Safe Systems of Work.

 

  • Attention to detail.

 

  • Good literacy/numeracy skills.

 

  • Excellent timekeeping.

 

  • Full capacity to recognise and distinguish between different colours.

 

  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement within a production environment.
