Dyehouse Manager

Joining us as an integral part of our leadership team, the Dyehouse Manager has accountability for building and shaping a strategy that enables the business to evolve as an international premium brand through quality, authentic and market relevant product.

With responsibility for the entire dyehouse operation, the Dyehouse Manager is expected to possess exemplary skills in all areas of textile dye and colouration along with strong people management skills.

The Dyehouse Manager will have a future focused mindset and be acutely involved in the support, research, and development of new product streams to enable Moons to remain at the cutting edge of product development within textile colouration.

An ability to support and coach continuous improvement of the dyehouse operation using data analysis and Lean methodologies are key attributes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead our dyehouse operation and dyehouse team, instilling best industry practices and role modelling expected behaviours.


  • Provide subject matter expertise and oversee the team to efficiently generate dyestuff recipes for shade colour and operate equipment using control systems to ensure dye colouration cycles run to optimum conditions.


  • Take the lead during product development meetings for dyehouse concept development and collaborate with the Blending Manager and Design Director.


  • Provide data lead insight as part of the wider yarn production plan, taking full accountability for delivering the dyehouse planning elements to meet customer on time deliveries.


  • Shape and develop a 3-year plan for the dyehouse operation that directly supports the wider business’s operational strategy for internal operational growth.


  • Own and manage our external dye stuff partnership with suppliers and take accountability for developing internal monitoring / testing processes.


Skills and Experience 

This is a technical role responsible for the exact scientific analysis, accurate measurements, trials, production, and quality of dyed, pigmented and colour application to textile. As such, the following technical expertise is required:

    • Degree qualified or equivalent experience in the field of textile colour chemistry or a science-related subject.
    • Experience working with modern dyeing techniques and technologies.
    • Expert knowledge of dyes/chemicals including basic, reactive, acid, and pre-met dyes.
    • A track record of successfully managing a dyehouse.
