What’s new, Moon? So far so good in 2016.

/ / Company News, Design Stories, Latest Posts

Welcome back! The Moon blog is a year older (but not necessarily a year wiser) and finally back up and running for the new year. It’s been a whirlwind start with seven trade shows already under our belt across all three of our product divisions and eight new collection launches to boot. We’ll explore all this and more below as we delve into what’s new to Moon so far in 2016…

APPAREL

One of our favourite new projects is a collaboration with our Yorkshire friends at Menswear brand Brook Taverner, the Great Yorkshire Show and the Yorkshire Agricultural Society to create a Great Yorkshire Tweed. This soft Lambswool fabric is constructed in the Ag Soc’s official colours, green & gold, and will be made up into 300 limited edition Brook Taverner Jackets before launching onto the catwalk of this year’s Yorkshire Show.

Scarves in the same design are also being crafted and there are even plans underway to officially register the tweed pattern as Yorkshire’s own!

You can read more about the project (and the products themselves) at the Great Yorkshire Show’s official website here.

We also have some big news in the shape of our Stock Supported Apparel range. Select fabrics from our Menswear and Ladieswear Heritage, Jacketing, and Coating collections will soon be available to buy online at moons.co.uk! These will be made available cut length to tailors and garment makers  as well as being available to the general public at RRP.

This direct from source online service is due to be developed and launched before Summer 2016, so keep an eye on our Apparel pages for further developments.

FURNISHING

After successful previews at Heimtextil and the Scottish Interiors Showcase, the launch of PARQUET is almost upon us (7th March)! Parquet features twenty two exciting new colourways in an alluring basketweave pattern; inspiring plain fabrics for bold, contemporary interiors.

The design was partly inspired by our new Sales & Design Showroom suite; renovated from one of the oldest sections of the mill and complete with, you guessed it, a historic Parquet floor. The woven design itself also appears within our fabric archives dating all the way back to the late 1910’s, giving the new collection a fantastic historic back-story to complement the modern interpretation of the pattern.

BRONTE BY MOON

A huge thank you to all those who came to see our stands at Top Drawer London, Scotland’s Trade Fair, Premiere Classe, and Spring Fair 2016; whether you came to take a brochure at just one or placed orders at all three, you helped to create a buzz about our stand that resulted in our best ever Spring show run. We seem to be saying that every year but it’s true!

Our new collections proved a hit, none more so than the new Shetland Fern colourway. Available in classic Huntingtower, stylish Windowpane, contemporary Kilnsey and bold Arncliffe patterns, the Fern (pictured below far left) throws and cushions were the buyers pick of the bunch and are ideally suited to fresh-look Spring interiors.

Other brand new product launches included Doublesquare Geometric throws in Lambswool, undyed Natural Wools, the Dales Scarf Collection for AW16/17 and five more colourways for the newly designed Shetland throws (Berry, Brick, Aqua, Grey, and Sage).

Our next new collection launch will be at PULSE LONDON in May!

We will be resuming our showroom open days to our beloved trade partners in March (look out for your email invitation!) and genuinely can’t wait to bring you what else we have in store for the year ahead. Stay tuned.
