Design Sales Account Manager
Overview
The Senior Design Sales Account Manager role is pivotal in driving growth within Moon’s apparel division by leveraging design expertise and strategic account management to build long-term client relationships and deliver bespoke fabric solutions.
This role works alongside the Head of Apparel Sales, to manage and maximise business opportunities for Moon by establishing and developing accounts, drive sales and deliver our commercial goals and manage sales and design accounts for a defined portfolio of customers while developing strong relationships of trust and loyalty to ensure a high level of repeat business in support of Moon’s growth aspirations.

- Ensure high customer engagement alongside essential internal collaboration, including, but not limited to, the following –
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, where applicable through design-led meetings.
- Arrange and lead the showing of seasonal and stock supported collections to an approved customer list, in agreement with the Head of Apparel Sales.
- Where required, expand on this list should geographical/market conditions suggest this.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of sales orders in collaboration with internal teams.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and provide feedback on product development.
- Oversee both new business and account management, implementing relevant metrics to keep orders on track.
- Develop excellent customer service, increase sales and reduce costs in alignment with the wider commercial strategy.
- Be aware of market trends and competitor activities.
- Build strong partnerships with our product teams to craft successful go-to-market strategies.
- Build and maintain customer relationships, educate customers about our products, benefits, and sustainability practices.
- Manage customer selections with the pattern room.
- Maintain a high level of personal organisation that is also accessible to the wider team where required.
- Support team members and mentor new starters where required.
- Give clear and precise feedback from customer meetings.
- Feedback to the apparel sales team on design points of interest.
- Use your industry knowledge and leverage your professional network to identify the unique needs of both prospective and existing customers, providing specialist support to manage these relationships throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Provide product recommendations and solutions to meet customer needs through your unique design/sales skill set of woven textiles, intrinsic knowledge of the apparel textile industry and fabric trends.
- Where applicable, create bespoke customer products whilst working with the customer to develop and implement this, following discussion and approval by the Head of Apparel Sales, alongside the Head of Design and Apparel Design Lead.
- Manage bespoke projects with specific teams in the mill to facilitate the project on time and within an agreed price point and budget.
- Work with the design team on seasonal collections and larger projects as required, and in agreement with your manager.
- Conduct customer presentations and service visits to show current and new collections of apparel fabrics, and act as the primary point of contact for select accounts, keeping other key team members informed as required.
- Take an active role in sharing market intelligence with the rest of the commercial team to maximise sales opportunities both in the UK and internationally.
- Identify opportunities for organic growth.
- Develop and execute sales plans to drive revenue growth.
- Work with the Head of Apparel Sales on budget to ensure meeting of targets monthly, quarterly, and yearly.
- Work with the wider teams to ensure orders are delivered on time to customer specifications. Collaborate with team members to resolve any order-related issues.
- Maintain organised records and ensure data accuracy, updating customer records and accounts.
- Identify upselling opportunities to maximise revenue.
- Maintain an acceptable level of product knowledge by keeping up to date with product developments.
- Skilled design capability and business knowledge of woven textiles.
- Comfortably presenting fabric collections to customers within a B2B selling environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the team, interdepartmentally, and with suppliers and customers.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Confidence with the ability to organise and chair regular meetings, write reports and deliver presentations.
- Intrinsic knowledge of the apparel industry.
- Experience working collaboratively to ensure the customer receives the optimum experience regardless of touch point.
- Experience of CRM and ERP platforms, CAD, Microsoft Office and methodologies.
- Comfortable dealing with technology, data, and analytics.
